How to Actually Get a Table

Frantzén is ranked among the hardest restaurant reservations in the world. Here’s what I learned — as someone who successfully got a table.

How difficult is it, really?

Frantzén has been ranked among the top 15 hardest restaurant reservations in the world. With only 23 seats per sitting and one sitting per evening, the restaurant can seat fewer than 8,000 diners per year. Prime weekend tables can sell out within hours. Midweek lunch sittings are somewhat easier to obtain. That said, it is not impossible — I got a table, and this is what I did.

When reservations open

Reservations for the upcoming month open on the first of each month at 10:00 AM local Stockholm time. The restaurant uses its own custom booking system accessible through the official website. Availability on peak dates disappears quickly.

Step by step

  1. Create an account on the official website before the first of the month. Registration takes a few minutes and you don’t want to waste time on release day.
  2. Set a reminder for the 1st at 10:00 AM Stockholm time. London (summer) = 9 AM · New York = 4 AM · Tokyo = 5 PM.
  3. Have your preferred dates and party size ready. Decide dinner or lunch, and whether you’re flexible on date.
  4. If your preferred date is full, check midweek. Tuesday and Wednesday lunches are the least competed-for sittings. Food and experience are identical.
  5. Ask about a cancellation list. Contact the restaurant directly by phone or email.
  6. If you still can’t get in, some legitimate concierge services assist with difficult reservations for a fee. Research independently before paying anything.
